For gaming, definitely. 8-core FX will only be better then i5 if you do A LOT of CPU-intensive productivity, such as video editing or 3D rendering.

Maybe a lite oc,  my 4790k was good at 1.3v and kept the max real world temps around 80c. Test runs kept it a little too hot though.
