Make sure that you go down to your sound thing on the bottom right hand side of window. You might have to into your mixer and make sure it is sending sound to the right device. You might have to make it so that it ignores something. Thats what I had to do.

Try switching outputs in the system tray. Make sure it's not trying to feed the sound to your monitor. Do you have headphones plugged into it or something like a desk phone attached to it via a USB?

You need to install the sound drivers.

Go look 'em up on your motherboard manufacturer's website.

 

Then you may need to actually select the right sound output device.
