980 VS 970

Bijmij1

Hey guys, Here in Belgium A 980 costs €650.

A 970 is €400.

My budget now allows me to buy a 970. But should I wait to get a 980 or isn't it worth the extra cost?

Because the 3.5GB shouldn't be a problem. should it? well. not that .5GB will make a big difference.

Well. I thank you for your help anyway :)

the .5GB won't make a difference unless you go 4k, and then you should be going 980. (for gaming)

It depends on what you want. The 980 does perform better, but has a lot worse price/performance ratio than the 970.

Do you have an SSD? Otherwise i would pick the 970 and add an SSD.

When in doubt: C4

As a proud 970 owner, I can confirm that if you are in the market, that is the way to go. I almost went dual 980s, but the price wasn't justified. I bought 2 of them, and with the exception of one game, everything works flawlessly, even at 4k.

My personal benchmarks (Before I added the other 16gb of ram): http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/6243556

And no, it won't affect you, unless all you play is shadow of mordor w/ ultra textures. Be sure to follow your posts though, @Bijmij1

As long as you stay in 1080p you won't have any issues. Go for the GTX970 and you won't regret it :).

Get the 970. No debate.

Yes the 980 is better, but not enough in my opinion to warrant the price gap it has with the 980.

Both can do 4K, but you wouldn't want to game at it unless the game isn't very intensive.

Both are great cards, but the 970 wipes the floor clean with the 980 in terms of value, it isn't that far behind the 980 in terms of raw performance.
