What cpu?

So i'm sorta stuck in the cpu part of my build...

 

what cpu do i get price is 250$ and below but i just don't know what cpu i should get...

 

games:bf4 bf3 mc gmod evolve etc.

(mostly minecraft though)

Cpu:

Intel i5 4460 Motherboard:Msi Z97S Sli krait Ram:HyperX Fury White (2x4) Storage:Seagate 1tb/Samsung 850 Evo 120gb Gpu:Gtx 960 2gb sc Case:S340 Black Psu:Corsair Rm 650w 80+ Gold certified

i5 4690k if you want to OC

Xeon E3 1231 if you don't want to OC but also want the performance of an i7

Do i need a specific motherboard for a xeon cpu?

The Xeon will work on Z97 Mobos if you already have one of those.

The Xeon will work on Z97 Mobos if you already have one of those.

Not all boards will have proper support for them, always check the cpu support list on the manufacters website to be sure as lower end boards often leave out any xeon support and don't work.

since you already own a Z97 motherboard you should get an unlocked CPU...so my vote goes to the i5-4690K.

 

The xeon 1231V3 would have been a great choice too cause you could have saved money going with a cheaper H97 motherboard...
