2 PSU's in one PC

Imagine that you have 2 Identical PSU's of X wattage is it possible to use both of them at once ? 

For example have one plugged in to the motherboard and the other one into the GPU's.

Yeah, its been done before just fine.

You'd have to figure out how to turn the one not plugged into the board on and a way to actually mount the second one.

 

Why not just buy a single high wattage one? Much easier.

It's definitely possible, but most of the time it's not worth doing, there's no real advantages of running multiple PSUs. You're almost always better off with a single more powerful PSU.
