Good Evening all, I have started to fold. My rig will be running all nights, and when I'm at work; however, I am still using the stock intel cooler, and I am worried about high temps with 100% utilization. So far I have ran it all night and all morning and the highest recorded temp is 77degrees C. Is this ok temps? or should I run it lower until I upgrade?

Are you using your GPU as well?

If you are only using CPU, I suggest changing to Boinc, as folding is more geared towards GPU computing (and Boinc towards CPU).

77˚c is fine if its a Tri-X, Double dissapation, or Vapor-X.

Anthing above 80˚c is not good for a 280x. 290x on the other hand is another story.

CPU: Intel i5-2400 Mobo: ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z RAM: 8GB G.Skill DDR3 1333MHz GPU: Sapphire R9 280x Tri-X Case Corsair Obsidian Series 350D PSU: EVGA 500w 80+ Certified

The temperature threshold depends on the specific hardware and

architecture in mind. If this is about your 4670k, 77 degrees is abit

on the high side. And definitely not ideal, but it's ok, it won't burn

out on you. Hopefully your average is a few degrees lower.

That is not true, at all. And i think you know you simply cannot

generalize boinc like that. Boinc makes up an array of different

projects with different puzzles to solve and different goals to

reach. "Boinc" isn't geared towards any single specific thing.

Except acting as a portal for all the projects.

Folding isn't necessarily geared towards gpu's. it's just how

things are, a gpu is a piece of hardware more suited for some

tasks while cpu are more inclined to others.

When it comes to the point discrepancy between cpu and gpu

that applies just as much to boinc as it does to folding.
