I read Nvidia's FAQ on SLI to be sure, but I'd rather be sure sure sure.  I have a GTX680 that I may sell to a friend who would want to use it in SLI.  He has the EVGA GTX680 FTW+ 4GB VRAM edition, while mine is an EVGA GTX680 Superclocked 2GB edition.

As I understand, you can still SLI these cards.  Since VRAM doesn't combine, he should run the FTW+ edition as the primary because then he'll enjoy more VRAM, but that this is still a worthwhile upgrade (I'd give a competitive price :D)

Am I correct?

he will effectively lose 2GB of VRAM no matter which one is his primary.

Hmmm, that's something he would have to take into account.  I'm not sure it would be a huge deal for him, he only games at 1080p.  But he also likes modding Skyrim a lot, and that means huge texture packs, so... I'll let him know.  Thanks for the quick reply!

Why stop there?  I'll just tell him VRAM gets multiplied together when in SLI and he'll be rocking a solid 8GB!  What a deal eh!!!

Yeah naw he's a really good friend, I won't be doing that.
