So i know a "case-less" post in the "case.." forum is a bit ironic but hear me out.

Right so why do people use PC's? because there more powerful and more modifiable than consoles and the like, however on the off hand they do cost significantly more, but what if they didn't? yes i am fully aware that building a new PC for 400 is literally impossible (believe me i tried) and used parts are a bit sketch, so if you cant buy used parts and new parts cost too much, why not just ditch some of the stuff that isn't really important, most easily done is the case. Now we arrive at the question, where will i house my components (because leaving a pile of PCBs and wires on your desk isn't very practical. (all of this is going to seem like a joke but im completely serious) plywood is pretty cheap now a-days, cardboard boxes are in gross supply (i <3 amazon), and if your feeling exceedingly manly and have some tools and a work space on hand sheet metal is on the cheaper side of most cases. the latter of those great ideas is what im doing, yes a linux fueled, god im broke, but fuck next gen console fueled rage. not to mention you can forgo those overly expensive case fan and pickup a 15$ box fan from Walmart (you know for over clocking and stuff).

You can easily build a new pc for $400.

And there are some cases out there that are really cheap, sure they are not the best quality, but they at least get the job done.

I'd rather buy a £20 tatty case filled with LED's than house it in a cardboard box... The case really can be one of the cheapest parts to a build if the builder wished to do so.

As for the man made case, that would take up a lot of time and craftsmanship to pull it off, but it's definitely a favoured method amongst high-end builders.

You can pick up an ATX case with two USB ports, power button, rest button and all the front panel goodness for £19.99

two problems, super cheap 30$ cases arent going to have CM options (something you could easily do with a cardboard panel inside of aforementioned box, like what amazon ships motherboards with) and 2, you guys arent thinking hipster enough (notice i said linux) building your own case is something you can hold as a badge of "look how kick-ass this thing i built looks" and sets you apart from the other darkly colored, matte painted boxes, not to mention if you want it to look badass, an aluminum plate with a black pc mounted to it on a wall above your monitor is easily cooler than any hard looped water cooling, super led case, souly because its unique, almost like a work of art

Except you can buy wall mountable cases already.... -_-
