Hello all,

Recently I opened a thread to do with a frame drop problem I have with my GTX 970 G1 Gaming. I have been able to research the issue some more  and have found it seems to be an issue with GPU usage. While gaming and in benchmarks the GTX 970, drops down to 0% GPU usage. This happens at random intervals. I've spoken to other GTX 970 users that are having this issue as well. I'm hoping that the community can help resolve this issue.

My system specs are as follows:

ASRock H97M-Pro4

Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3 1600mhz

Intel Core i5 4590

Corsair CX-750M

Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming

Any help would be appreciated,

Tofite.

  • Make sure you're plugged into the GPU for video output
  • Make sure you have the appropriate PCIe power connectors plugged into the card
  • Make sure the GPU is seated correctly

I have reseated the card several times.

I have unplugged and replugged pci-power cables.

What do you mean by plug in for video output?

Your monitor needs to be plugged into the GPU.

Like so:

Did you have a dedicated GPU before this? If you didn't have any issues with it, you may just have a faulty 970, possibly.

I built this PC myself late last year. I've had no other GPUs. It doesn't seem like I have a faulty 970 because other 970 owners have the same problem.

Okay so lets go back to your issue then.

What exactly happens when the GPU usage goes to "0%"? Framerate drops to what?
