Well seeing as recently put together my PC and purchased all the parts I'm sitting on a few parts I can cancel and replace before they get processed and shipped since it's the weekend.

My main concern is my air cooler, I chose the 212 EVO while I was going for a budget build but I ended up spending a little more than expected. I also realized that I spent $40 for the EVO on amazon and I figured for that price I'd rather spend the extra cash and get something a little more practical for my build.

This is my build and I also ordered 2 Corsair SP 120mm fans and 2 NZXT 140mm AF fans. I'd like to know what my options are and I'm not trying to go crazy like a h100i or anything like that but I don't mind water cooling if It's better than some air coolers.

G1 970 is worth the extra $20, and NZXT FN aren't that great

Unfortunately I cannot change those two thing as they were already processed from another company, The only thing I can really replace is the cooler and the SP 120mm fans but I might be able to use them in the long haul or just slap them on the 212.

Do you think that would be adequate? I just feel that for $40 I could get something better if I spent a little more. I'm still looking at my options.

Don't get the SP120, they're not that great of fans for the money. Stock 212 fan is perfectly fine.

It is perfectly adaquate for your purposes. Unless you will be doing something extremely cpu intensive

Unfortunately I do multi task a lot while gaming

I was looking at the dark rock 3, it matches my build and is a bit better than the 212. I was also going to ditch the sp120s and throw in another 135mm Silentwing fan. Anyone have any objections?

Edit: Looks like it can only support another 120mm fan but that's no biggie.

That wont really be too bad as long as you dont do a lot of video rendering. a 212 is perfectly adaquate for your uses.

The dark rock 3 is mainly for people with noise issues

That video is what got me hooked, I was almost tempted to buy it but it's out of stock everywhere, I did find a nice Phanteks cooler though.

that heatsink is a really good one but it is quite expensive. If you have the money and are really concerned about your pc temps, you could buy it.

To really have it to be justifiable though, you have to do a ton of overclocking on your cpu

I just bought it, I canceled my order for the 212 and SP120's and once I get the rebate I'll save 6 bucks. Not much but worth it in the long run if I ever upgrade my CPU or do some serious OC'ing. I ordered it from new egg for 79.99 but I also get a $10 rebate.

Personally I would upgrade the fan if I ever decided to do any serious OCing. The 212EVO is perfectly capable of maintaining cool temperatures and I would only recommend the Phantek one for people with a much more high end PC than yours.

I plan on getting an I7 sometime soon and passing some of these parts onto my little brother so at least ill be future proof on a CPU cooler.

an i7 runs no hotter than an i5 maybe even cooler on the same workload. The benefit of an i7 is hyperthreading which you wont need unless you  do video editing and rendering

Over clocked and with heavy multitasking?

Im talking about super fast video rendering. You can multitask all you want until you run out of ram it shouldnt affect temperatures that much. Its not like you are going to be playing Shadow of Mordor while playing Crysis 3 at the same time.

If you are really concerned about temperatures then it is ok to add a bit of cooling but in my experience it hasnt been necessary. Better too much cooling than too little. If you can afford it, then not much harm in spending a bit extra for that added bit of cooling

Well sorta good news, my order from newegg was canceled because I guess I spent too much much today so my bank declined the order. I'm pretty happy because I realized that cooler would completely hide my motherboard and RAM. I'm now out of a cooler and thinking of going for the smaller version or an AIO Unit.
