just buy a nas...or a second hand pc...you aren't gonna get much for 350

I would recommend a synology one

Link? And I wasn't expecting a formula one super duper epic server.

I was looking for one that can support a Minecraft server, and can store loads of data from around my house.

You wont be doing much with that budget. A server will need a bunch of ram and the ram itself required to run one would probably be up to $300 depending on what kind of server.

I suggest just renting a server

Only a Atom CE5335 and 1gb RAM wont cut it for a Minecraft server, I would recommend atleast a Pentium G3220 and 4-8gb RAM at this point in time.

Here is what id suggest,

G3220 since it is both Cheap and Powerful.
A 256gb SSD since i think you need Speed when it comes to loading maps and such when you host games.
8gb RAM since it is a good starting point, You can go all the way up to 32gb on that board if you feel it is needed.
ATX since it was hard to stay in budget when you want 4-6 HDD's in it.

Motherboard: ASRock H97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($71.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: Antec NSK4100 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($36.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply  ($24.99 @ NCIX US)
Keyboard: Logitech K120 Wired Standard Keyboard  ($7.99 @ NCIX US)
Mouse: Zalman ZM-M200 Wired Optical Mouse  ($4.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $349.92
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

That "crappy" psu is an Antec Earthwatts 380D. http://www.anandtech.com/show/3902/antec-earthwatts-ea-380d-green-380w/4 For what it has to do and give that the nominal load will likely be under 30%, it will do a very solid job.

Agreed on the storage space. But the budget simply does not allow for more. Presumably the user will add a larger drive or two when funds become available.

true it won't be under heavy load..but the antec brand is pretty crappy these days...I would still invest in a 300-400w seasonic/xfx psu....or a rosewill capstone

Antec is not a crappy company when it comes to power supplies.

actually they are in the last 5-7 years

had alot of dead antec's..they don't use quality parts anymore

basically..theres hardly any point in buying psu from anyone else other then seasonic...

most of the good quality psu's manufacters have changed

pc power and cooling was really good..but when then got bought by ocz..quality changed
