1 8GB stick of RAM or 2 4GB sticks

Does it really matter if I get 1 stick of 8GB DDR3 RAM or 2 4GB sticks?  Would there be any performance difference or is it just a matter of what's cheaper?

Thanks

If it's dual channel it's much faster to use a 2x4gb config. but 1 8gb stick can offer you 16gb of total RAM in case you wanted to upgrade later on

one or three stick will only run single channel. If you going to get another 8gb stick in a month or less, get it. 2 4gb sticks will be better long term till you get another 2x4gb, unless ypu only have 2 dimms as that limits that amount of ram sticks.

Right, okay, So I think I'll go with 2 4GB sticks. I can't see my self using more than 16GB RAM. 8GB is surely enough for now :)

Actually there will be practically no performance difference. I would only go 2x4 if you will still be able to upgrade to however much you want in the future, you don't mind the extra cost, and prefer the looks.

2x4GB, because if 1 stick fails, you can still use your computer, and if your using Windows Home Premium you can only use 16GB anyway, so going 4x4GB won't be an issues if you plan on upgrading in the future.
