It comes with MSI Afterburner, it's up to you. MSI Afterburner is actually an overclocking software, so no it doesn't harm your GPU.

When stress testing the GPU, it's normal if the temperature increases. Because the GPU will be at full load, to tell if the GPU is stable or not, if it's unstable you'll see the artifact.
