How much cash you got to spend mate?

Although, pretty much any Z97 would serve you well.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Yea that's where I came to a x99 board is overkill for my price range

I'm putting a new rig together in the next couple weeks myself, and i'm set on Z97 over X99, as it's like an extra £200 for such a setup, and most of the stuff i play only uses up to 2 cores.

X99 is not compatible. Its an entirely different socket. (2011 v3)

B85, h81, h87, h97, z87, and z97 are all your choices for socket 1150 ( the socket you are on.)

EDIT: moreover, b85, h81, h87, and h97 all do not officially support over clocking and are not meant for it.

The z series, (z97/87) are meant to overclock, and do officially support it.

Yea definatly

Also, the 4790k will be able to OC higher, more consistently than a 5820k. Also, less heat :P

Ah, OK. Then any z series board is what you're looking at, neither chip set requires a bios update to work.

I reccomend the z97 gaming 3/5, and if you have not already gotten the CPU, get the 4790k instead and save yourself the trouble caused by original haswells IHS. This of course would mean you should stay with z97 so you can get a board that is garaunteed to work with the CPU without a bios update.

Incredibly. But if you want it, and it doesn't pull money away from any other part of the build, then yes.
