Alternative to Dimmdrive?

I would rather not pay $30 for something that an intermediate level programmer made in a few weeks. I know there must be alternatives, anything that you guys use? I have 16GB of 1600Mhz RAM, so I think i'm definitely capable of utilizing it to my advantage. If anyone has Dimmdrive let me know how it is. Is it as fast as they advertise?

 

I don't have an SSD at the moment although I do plan on getting one eventually.
