Windows Areo not Working

Go to solution Solved by Kherm,

Managed to solve it, thanks for your help though.

Solution:

I was checking the Nvidia Control Panel, and when I came to adjust resolution, I made sure both my monitors were on 1080p, but my secondary monitor was only on 16-bit colour depth. I didn't change that, so I put it back up to 32-bit, and aero is back. I don't know how it changed the Colour Depth or why that would affect aero, but I'm glad its back.

Thanks for all your help again any way.

Of Course! I completely forgot that you need 32 bit color to use Aero

Hey everyone.

A weird problem has happened and I don't know how to fix it.

I was using my computer and for some reason Windows explorer restarted, only the areo features did not.

I originally thought it was something to do with Displayfusion, but everything was fine.

I literately just restarted my computer and the issue is still present. I have tried changing themes from my Un-saved theme back to the original Windows theme (Blue windows logo)

Still nothing. I finally resorted to going to Microsoft's website and downloaded a FixitForme for areo. This identified the issue as my gpu not supporting areo features. I'm sorry, what? A GTX 970 not supporting Areo, when I know it does as it has been before.

Do you know the cause of the issue/solution?

if so, any info would be great.

Thanks.

Very strange.

Well, let's try something else. Do you have integrated graphics? if so, restart your PC using them and then try to see if Aero works

Of Course! I completely forgot that you need 32 bit color to use Aero

The question is why did it change by itself? Also, wouldn't re-installing the drivers automatically adjust the colour depth

Yeah that shouldn't happen. When Explorer crashed it must have reverted color depth to default
