Only 2 ram slots working

Basically, my two firsts ram slots aren't working. The two last ones work, but I would like to run dual channel ram. My mobo is the gigabyte

When did you buy the mobo? Send back as doa?

Are you saying you can't run dual channel because one of the slots for it is dead?

You are likely putting them in separate channels. For your board put one RAM DIMM in each color coordinated slot. Either both in black, or both in gray. The channels are separated, not side by side.

 

Sorry if I misunderstand the post, but it seems odd to have one slot die from each channel, although it's definitely possible.

Install the ram and run memtest.  Its either a socket issue or a ram issue.  Also make sure the ram is seated in the socket all the way.

take out the CPU and check for bent pins

 

if it fine

 

run mem test on the 'faulty slots'

 

if they are fine

 

run again the RAM config

 

else all fail

 

RMA the board

Hopefully the mem test will help you as said with the ram can try with that.
