Get which ever's cheaper/ you like Colors of more.

I prefer MSI because Fanboy.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

For the hard drive drop to a 2TB and use the money you save to get a 120GB SSD.

For GPU don't get a Strix (why do people still like it?!?!!), get the Gigabyte G1 ("Windforce", no X3)

And don't get that power supply. It's one of the poor choices from EVGA. Get something from XFX.

2. it's $350. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvn970g1gaming4gd

3. They don't know what they're talking about. Everyone on this forum seems to worship EVGA power supplies for some reason even though XFX are better for the money. The NEX650G is not a good choice. It's a decent power supply in every area except 12V voltage regulation, the most important aspect of a PSU, because poor 12V Vreg causes more wear to the VRMs of your components such as your motherboard and graphics card. The PSU itself is based on the FSP Aurum platform which is "meh", but somehow EVGA actually made it perform worse then the Aurum that it's based off of. They really flunked it with the NEX G1 series, don't buy it. XFX's current power supplies are made by Seasonic, a well-trusted OEM for quality PSUs.

$10 more, you get a much better built and performing power supply, that also has hybrid fan mode (fan doesn't turn on until under load) the XFX XTR 750

Or if you can live without a modular PSU, there is an epic deal for the ProSeries 550 right now, just $26. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1550sxxb9

Why not? Why is the Strix bad?

There's nothing special about it, and it's not a great overclocker. For $20 more you can get a much better card.

Windforce is better at overclocking however the Strix can run passive (fans not spinning) when idle or during light gaming which is pretty damn cool

G1 can also do that. Fans on mine are off right now.

I wasn't expecting that, so I quickly googled it, and the first result was actually from the LTT forum and you had to tweak the BIOS, while the Strix can do this out of the box, according to what I just saw. But anyway, I'm not saying it is better, they both have pros and cons, let's not start a war

Honestly the only pros for Strix are slightly lower cost and physical size. The 0db fan isn't a big deal. At low fan speeds, you won't notice the difference between fans on (G1 stock) and fans off (Strix) because it will be dampened by your case and drowned out by other fans in your PC. I have personally tried this comparison as I had a Strix 970 before.

I'll have to agree with you cause I never had any of these cards

THere are a few technical diffrences between those 2 boards.

Size: The Gigabyte Z97X- gaming 5 is not a full sized atx board, but slightly smaler, offcourse it still fits in ATX cases, but it only has 6 screw holes instead of 8.

Vreg design:

- The Gigabyte has a better quality vreg design, its a 8 true powerphase board with digi vrm.

- Them Msi has a 4+1 "true" powerphase with doublers, analog hybrid.

* But the vreg design on Z97 platforms dont realy matter much for overclocking, because ms- haswell cpu´s have their voltage regulation on the chip, so in terms of overclocking, its more about the luck of the silicon lottery.
