Gaming Build

The games I plan to play on this machine will probably be pretty demanding considering the games I play now.  I've made some adjustments; please comment as all comments (good or bad) are appreciated.  If you have any parts you would recommend for this build, those would be appreciated as well.

Are you planning to do any editing or rendering? If so, stay with the i7, if not go for an i5.

An i5 isn't compatible with the motherboard.

Where do I start.

If you are only going to be gaming do yourself a favour and get an i5 4690k with a z97 board. Socket 2011 was created in order to cater for enthusiasts not us(gamers). In almost all games you would get the same fps with an i5 4690k as you would with an i7 5820k, while saving A LOT of money in the process. Also why the high speed memory? In games there is literally no difference between 1600mhz memory and 2000+mhz. Unless you are editing (a lot), save some money. With the saved money you can get much more graphics horsepower. With the saved money you could most probably fit in another gtx 980...

thats why you change the motherboard...?

OT: if you're just gonna game, please do yourself a favour and get an i5 instead. there is literally no point of going X99 just for gaming. If you're going to be rendering, editing etc get the i7. but gaming, please the i5.

Get a z97 board and try and get two gtx 970s/ two r9 290s instead of the gtx 980.

As others have stated the x99 platform is completely wasted for gaming purposes.  You are going to want to go to the z97 platform with either an i5 4690k or i7 4790k.  With a z97 board and processor you can save yourself well over $500 for 1% performance loss.

Well you do get graphics performance that is about 40% better than the 980. While still being cheaper (h)aswell.
