Help choosing WD drives

Go to solution Solved by Mighty_Miro_WD,
Hi there @angus_pa!

I would recommend to go with WD Red since you want to setup a RAID with 2 drives because WD Red Pro is designed for larger NAS and RAID setups (8-16 drives array).

As for the RPM of the drives, WD Red has Intellipower, which means that the RPM will depend on the performance requirements of most applications. For instance, if your application requires mostly sequential read/writes, then the drive will perform comparable to a 7,200 RPM drive, and if your application performs mostly random mode operations, then the performance may drop by about 10% because of the latency time. WD Red Pro has 7200 RPM.

Hope this helps.

Cheers! :)

@Jade, thank you for the ping! :)

Maybe it's just me, other than SSD, the rest of the HDD seems like almost the same speed to me now.
