Let's get right down to it. I'm a high school Junior and I honestly have no clue about how to get scholarships. For those who have already been through the college application/scholarship acquisition process -- how did you do it, and what tips do you have for the soon to be freshmen?

A big step is to file the FAFSA. It takes your basic info and finds scholarships that you are qualified for. At the same time, Google search for scholarships based on interests that you have.

Keep in mind that you may not get any. Many students dont and have to rely on student loans. I didnt get any because I am a white middle class male. Most scholarships favor "minorities". I got a single $320 "Middle Class" scholarship to cover two semsters of school.

Thanks! I'll check out the FAFSA out and keep the whole minority/majority thing in mind.

Another thing to keep in mind - when you apply to colleges, if you are a white male, choose the "Rather Not Say" or "Deny To State" box when it asks you for both gender and race/ethnicity. It'll give you a higher chance of getting in.
