Google Win 8 vs 8 Pro and look at the chart. It is always nice to have the Pro version though. You can only use a OEM on your PC. A normal version can be re installed on a different PC, if yours ever fails.

why pro? and so OEM comes with the install CD as well as the key code id imagine?

Because it normally should not cost more and it has Remote Desktop functions and BitLocker. You can download the Win 8 iso for free from Microsoft. If you can find a just digital version cheaper, go and get that one. What is the price difference between win 8 pro OEM and non OEM on Newegg?  I can not accees their site for some reason.

How long are you gone keep the PC? Are you gone through it away in a few years?

Get 64 bit, 32 bit only is relevant if you don't have more than 4gb of ram and never intend to break that barrier. And the OEM version is tied to your motherboard so you can't change out boards unless it's an identical one.

You can actually replace the motherboard with a different one. You will just need to call MS and tell them that your board broke. Then the guy starts typing and reads out a new key.

I would get the Windows 8 Pro OEM Version and buy a cheap 4gb USB stick. Then google for windows 8 iso download and create a bootable usb stick with the microsoft windows 8 download software. make sure to use a legit download site or I can give you the link to where I always download it from. Then you install windows on your PC. Afterwards, that stick goes into your case, so in case you ever need to reinstall, you got a copy inside your PC.

whats an ISO?

It is a safe format to handle. It is something like a image of the windows installation files. They are all bundled in a ISO file. This makes it easier to burn DVDs or create a USB stick.

Yes. You can either download a tool, that will turn the disc into a USB stick or use the windows 8 download tool and create a USB installer from there. I don't have a DVD drive, so I just download the iso. The USB installation is always much faster.
