Hi guys,

I want to format my laptop as it is full of crap and junk files. I don't have the money to buy a External HDD to make a copy in case I miss a thing or two. I know that Its possible to connect a Laptop to a PC's HDD. I do have ethernet cables. Please tell me the instructions to do so, also can I get any rough idea how much time will it take to copy 500GB of data?

If not, should I try using multiple USB PenDrives to store the essentials?

Thanks.

You could remove your laptop hard drive and fit it inside the PC, or get an external caddy

or enable file sharing over the network and do it that way

Hi there @ContraHacker!

Since you're not going to use the drive as a boot drive you can remove it from the laptop and connect it to your PC.

Just keep in mind that hard drives can be damaged by rough handling, shock and vibration, so handle the hard drive only by the sides and avoid touching circuit board components on the bottom of the drive. Also, make sure that the boot order in BIOS is right and the computer will run from the current drive you have there and not from the one from the laptop.

Hope this helps.

Cheers! :)
