1. Budget & Location
I don't have a 'budget' per se, though I'd like to keep it under around £5k. England for my location.

2. Aim

A lot of gaming running at 1080p/4k at either very high or highest settings with high FPS (60fps). Also 3D Rendering, Game Engines, processor intensive programs and video rendering etc.

3. Monitors
1 Running 1080p and 1 running 4K (I may invest in a 3rd monitor at a later date). If you have any ideas for a good 4k monitor that would also be handy.

4. Peripherals
Good mic, mechanical keyboard (Cherry MX red?), good quality headphones.

I was thinking about getting GTX 980 on a 2 way sli.

Since you got about £3k to play with, go play. Make adjustments where you will. I presume you know what you need better than me, whether it be more processing power, Cuda, or whatever.

Yeah, though if I can get roughly the same performance (or achieve the same results that I need) I'd rather it be cheaper.

I don't want a mic on my headset. As longs as the mic quality is good and clear then I don't mind which it is. I like the sound of Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 4GB WINDFORCE 3X Video Card which linus did a video on (which I believe cooled better and had increased performance?) Would one of these be enough for around 50-60fps in the latest games, or would 2 way sli on this be better?

How's this? http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/7MtPLk

(Looks good to me, but I'd like a second opinion).

Don't get the Corsair RM. Swap it for the EVGA Supernova G2 750W.

Change the SSD to the 850 Evo.

Do you need that many Cores ?

RAM is better and cheaper. A pair of HDD's in RAID 0 will increase the speed of any workload tasks you have. The Samsung 840 Evo's still have that issue with degraded performance on rarely used files, so I picked something comparable but much cheaper. Change for a much better mobo. People rail against the RM series of PSU's, so I picked something else instead, £20 cheaper in any case. You can still go with the RM if you want, it's not shit.

What about now? It's in UK and 2k should be enough to get two monitors and needed peripheral

£5000 - £3963.42 = £1036.58. Not exactly £2k. And the OS and keyboard aren't even part of that price.

You chose....poorly.

I included 2 Monitors. ROG Swift for gaming on and a 4K IPS for working on. Wasn't sure if you already had the 1080p screen or not.

I will leave you to select your own Headphones/Mic.

With this sort of budget you have lots of options.

All that and yet you have a Zalman PSU..

No thnx

That Zalman PSU is an Enhance OEM, which is perfectly acceptable. Basically the difference between the RM and the Zalman is the difference between Enhance and Flextronics (Flextronics on the cheap as well).
