SSD - Windows cannot be installed to this disk

Go to solution Solved by darklighthim,

Well I finally got this kind of solved.

I managed to install XP via an old copy of TinyXP  I had laying around, downloaded the correct iso of win 8.1 for my product key, made a bootable USB from said iso and proceeded to the install which happened to work.

I am trying to re-install windows onto my SSD (OCZ Agillity 3) following a trial with Ubuntu Gnome linux but can't get past the HDD list screen as it shows the following message.

Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The computer's hardware may not support booting top this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu

I have set my bios to fail safe defaults then change things to ACHI as well as making sure all other settings are ok which they seem to be. I have tried using a standard sata HDD but it throws up the same message.

Any help is appreciated.

Make sure you connect your SSD to Intel SATA controller.

Your Intel port should be set to AHCI, NOT IDE and SMART should be enabled.

Still can't get it to install and even my old XP sp2 disk bluescreened on me. Now I am trying XP via tiny XP as I found a disk of that plus I have Ubuntu gome downloading on my old laptop so we'll see if that works should XP not.

Would really like to get 7 working though or even get a system up and running to get 8.1 onto a USB flash drive and use the key i have for that.
