Lenovo G405s Problems

I'm hoping for anyone to help me. I have been using the laptop for around 6-8 months and 2 months ago the screen starts to flicker for awhile then shuts off. The interesting thing is that the laptop it's self isn't turning off, it is the monitor. My warranty is out and I'm to scared of removing parts. Is there a way to fix it?
