SSD's

Go to solution Solved by Captain_WD,

What is better for gaming and long runs:

Sandisk Ultra 2:  240GB

Intel 530 Series:  120GB

How much space will remain after installing windows 8 on 120GB?

They are both similar price.

Hey GUzmani,

Games rely on storage only for their loading times (FPS and graphics stay the same) so both would be equally good in real life.
Windows would take up around 35GB on your drive and do have in mind that SSDs require 12%-15% of free space in order to function properly.
I would say go for the bigger one as you can run out of space pretty fast when you put your more demanding applications on your C drive.

Always go for the bigger one. 120gb is way too small, and people who only install windows on their ssd don't get the full experience. Programs load alot faster on a SSD than it does on a hard drive. Hard drives should only be used for long term storage, not to run your applications off of.

Sandisk is faster on paper but i am talking real life scenario. is it faster?

They'll be about the same, there might be a very small difference in boot times but that's about it. The 530 has HDD sequential write speeds though, highest I've seen the Seq writes for it is 163MB/s but it isn't really a problem unless you need to be writing to it a lot.

I'd still take the SanDisk anyway, assume they are similarly priced and within your budget. More space and it's faster.

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^
