What should I overclock the G1 GTX 970 to?

Set the core clock to +125MHz, and the Mem speed to around +350MHz to start it should do that easily with no voltage increase, be sure to set power limit to 112% and go from there slowly increasing to see how far you can push it.

its stable

Try slowly increasing it by 10-20Mhz at the core clock and do some benchmarking to test for stability, once it fails or reverts back to stock speeds back off about 10MHz if you want to push to see how far you can get your 970 to go try increasing the core voltage. In MSI afterburner you need to go into the settings and unlock the core voltage.

For mine I currently have +150Mhz on core and +475Mhz on Mem with 35mV on the core, I tried +170Mhz and 500Mhz with 35mV before which was stable for 95% of games until I played a Sims game for a three to four hours.

Overclock isnt stable

It depends on the card it can vary between cards where some overclock better than others, I would try turning down the speed or raising the core voltage to get stability. You want to make sure to try benchmarking with something like unigine valley for 30 mins atleast and play some games afterwards to ensure stability.
