Hello. I am looking to build a pc with these specs here http://amzn.com/w/2LBQN5EXRLXY1
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on incompatiblilities or better components.
Things I frequently do:

  • Video Editing
  • Recording Minecraft
  • Web Browsing
  • Etc.

I will be overclocking in this setup, and may upgrade to 2 970s in SLI.

Wait a sec. X99 for Minecraft?

What? What?

You'd be fine with a i5-4690k.

Also, 16GB of ram would be fine for your purposes. If you really want 32GB, you can.

Everything else seems fine to me.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

AAAActually MInecraft can eat a lot of performance when modded or just running long, for capturing I still doubt that you going to need the X99 Platform

CPU: Xeon 1230v3 - GPU: GTX 770  - SSD: 120GB 840 Evo - HDD: WD Blue 1TB - RAM: Ballistix 8GB - Case: CM N400 - PSU: CX 600M - Cooling: Cooler Master 212 Evo

Here is what I reccomend. x99 isn't needed for non-proffessional video editing and minecraft...

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/KZCT3Cfor $100 more, you get your dual 970s, 32GB of RAM, and a great i7 4790k.

Is it bad that my dream setup only costs a few thousand not counting the obutto?

CPU: FX-8320

Motherboard: asrock 970Pro3 r2.0

Memory: Team Zeus Blue 8GB DDR3-1600 Memory

Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 280 3GB DUAL-X Video Card

Case: Deepcool TESSERACT BF ATX Mid Tower Case

Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply

SSD: MX100 128GB

HDD: WD 2TB black edition

Mushkin Blackline 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory is a much better memory choice. A 4x8GB kit will leave room for a memory upgrade without replacing modules. Mushkin is a US manufacturer of quality memory parts.

XFX P1-750B-BEFX is of similar quality as the HX-750 and less expensive. Corsair HX750i is a few dollars less expensive than the HX-750 and better quality.

If video editing is the principal use then, depending on your editing software, you may want to consider going with a GTX 980 instead of potentially two GTX 970. Adobe CC/CS for instance uses a single gpu to accelerate editing tasks. It will only use multiple gpu for export. AFAIK. Sony Vegas Pro will only use one gpu.

If you do go with a single gpu, you could then consider a lower capacity psu. Something around 550W would be good.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
