When's the next installment of titan projected to be released? I'm going to be making a new editing PC sometime this year (probably when the new i7 extreme comes out).

Probably wont be.

I doubt that they will make another one under the name "Titan." It would sound silly if they named it something like "Titan 2.0" and it would certainly confuse people.

I would sure hope that they stop with random branding outside the usual series numbers.

Personally I think the titan was a one-off thing from Nvidia to show what they can do so I don't think there will be another.

When's the next installment of titan projected to be released? I'm going to be making a new editing PC sometime this year (probably when the new i7 extreme comes out).

Titan is a one-off product, there will be no successor in this, or probabbly next generation of chips, we wait for nvidia VOLTA to see if there will be a "spiritual" successor of the titan. AFAIK nvidia doesn't have a project that would even replace titan's architecture.

That said, Q2 next year nvidia should bring out MAXWELL GPUs (800 series) which should be very powerful, kicking even the titan in it's nuts. Have in mind now that even the GTX 780 could beat the titan (780 is basically a titan in disguise), but nvidia doesn't want that because it would beat the point of buying a twice more expensive titan. So next year, we will definately see a nvidia chip (probably GTX 880) that will wipe the floor with titan.

Don't forget that in october ATI will release it's next gen graphics cards, "the 9000 series".

EDIT: upon reading your signature, and seeing your setup I suppose you ask because of the titan's huge framebuffer, if that's what you're after, your best bet is 2 titans in sli for max performance and a 6 jiggaherz memory buffer, as I don't expect a card with more memory anytime soon. But what would you even need all that power for? if you're not doing any proffesional work with it, and by proffessional I mean super hi-end specialist or some really badass simulations (which I doubt, people who do that don't ask this type of questions)

The best way to answer this would maybe be to ask yourself when the last one was?

Its a fair question but I dont think there will be on the immediate horizon.

Also if they do it to soon everyone will remember, "Oh no Nvidia, we remember what you did last time, i'll save my $100's of dollars and wait a month and NOT get the Titan equivalent and instead get the GTX780 equivalent"

They need to wait to people forget that just happened :)

the gtx 880 will be a titan rebadge provided they dont jump to a new architecture like they did going from a 680 to 780...

-no, 780 IS a titan rebadge downclocked and with less memory, 770 is a upgraded 680, while the 760 is a modified and upgraded version of the 660-ti with less cuda cores. 880 is a Maxwell codenamed card, which will feature ARM cores on the graphics card, a feature from project Denver. Please get your facts straight before you give someone disinformation, it can do harm.

ok cool.....that ^ also i accounted for different architectures in my comment..i forgot the dont in the comment.......if they werent going to change architectures then my comment would be true. The performance increase would place the gtx titan and gtx 880 in the exact same park......sorry that you misunderstood and ill think about looking into cards before commenting in the future....

keeping in mind that Titan truly "comes from another project" (it's just a big supercomputer "part" more)

i will not except any other Titan 2 until I see in news, a new supercomputer for the company x "is being design"

if Nvidia launch now a Titan 2 with 2x the power of Titan, and...

AMD realese the QHD BFM 9999999.9 with 10x times they power (i want two by the way)

Nvidia will be destroyed lol, "the ball is in AMD side" and Nvidia "can not move" until AMD do is movement
