Can I burn music/podcasts on a DVD-RW and play it in my van. The disk player in my van can play movies/CD so it should work right? I know it should be on a CD-R for full functionality on most normal CD players and another question can I re-burn on the same disk with the DVD-RW more then once? Thanks for the help guys :D

Depends what van and how the stereo/DVD system is set up.

I have a Dodge Grand Caravan which has an MP3-compatible DVD player, so I am able to burn MP3s to a DVD-R/RW and get the full 4.7GB of capacity per disc, as long as the discs are finalized after writing (some DVD burning software don't have an option for this when using RW discs). This means that the disc can't be added onto after burning, it must be completely erased and re-written to if content is to be changed. With a non-finalized disc, the DVD player will not play it. Of course this uses the separate DVD changer, so I can't watch a movie while listening to music off a DVD. If I wanted to do that I have to use a CD in the main stereo.

However the van I had before I switched to the GC, a Honda Odyssey, was not able to play MP3s off DVD discs, it could only play MP3 off regular CD-R/RW, limiting me to 700MB per disc. Presumably due to Honda feeling the (separate) DVD player didn't need MP3 playback capabilities.
