I've been recently travelling a lot, and I've been using my earphones on flights/train... etc

Except they sound like crap. No intonation, low reach, no depth, washed out sound, uncomfortable, don't fit right, cable easily tangles.. Basically, everything that could be wrong in a wearable audio product.

I've been searching for a new pair of headphones.

If anyone can recommend some good light headphones, that would be great.

It would also be perfect if they folded and didn't take space, because I will most probably be carrying them in my briefcase or in my pocket.

My budget is around 100$, since these will not be my main headphones, but just for travelling/on plane...etc

Ooo nice thread, im also looking for one, in-ears lasted for 6 months and still going strong, not sure about how long it will last.

Im looking at the SOUL by ludacris or beats solo

I should not go for the beats solo, they look fantastic but the Bose ae2 or QC15 sound MUCH better.

Beats are basically crappy headphones with turned up bass, so no, don't buy them.

Don't buy SOUL or Beats.

You're paying for looks.

Bose is better than Beats, but you are mostly paying for the name.

default recommendation for portables. vmoda solid build great looking and bass.

my current cheapass portable ath-ws55 the audio technica solid bass headphone. I also have the ath-m50 and the cheapass solid bass ws55 eclipses the m50 in all aspects of sound. bass, mids and highs.. which could be a bit too bright. also soundstage of the ws55 is waaay better

the ws55's build quality is similar to the other default recommendation the koss portapro. a spring steel headband connected to 2 plastic cups.

Now I have a Sennheisers as my main driver, which makes me a bit prone to getting their products again, but after seeing some reviews of the PX 360, it seems as if they have a fairly weak cable, which is a deal breaker for travelling (since they will be shoved in all kinds of weird tight places..) (umm not like that)

I was actually surprised by the Vmoda recommendation because it is a company which I have never heard of, in the past, yet their design seem to be very stylish, reviewers seem to be happy with the sound quality, and I think once the CEO of a company responds to an Amazon comment, I think we can all agree that their customer support is most probably top notch, and they take what they do seriously.

I might give these a shot.

Now on the ATH side of things, I've always liked Audio Technica for their products, since imo they are one of the top players next to Snh and AKG.

I'm not particularly fond of high bass sounds (I listen to more conventional sounding instruments as opposed to rap/electro), which is why I believe the ATH M50 might be a better choice for me than the ws55.

Have a look at these? Not sure if it will be easy to get them where you are but they fold up and sound epic :D

Do it. They are literally designed for on-the-go while still maintaining a great price for their sound. ;)

V Moda Crossfade LP?

http://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Crossfade-Over-Ear-Noise-Isolating-Headphone/dp/B003BYRGJU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1373132485&sr=8-3&keywords=v+moda

I can't really recommend the Audio-Technica M50. Mine started to wear out after a year of ownership and maybe 5 months of actual use. Plus they're uncomfortable with the stock pads and the headband is rubbish. I'm not a big fan of their sound signature either.

If you want portability and great sound with great looks the Momentums work great. They are very expensive but do the job very well. I used mine in the plane and it drowned out the plane drone very very well for being simple closed headphones.

The vmodas are also great and were on my list for potential portable headphone purchase but I chose the momentums because of personal preference.

Ok, I was a bit on the back foot concerning the Vmodas, but the general response in this thread is making me seriously consider them.

I have heard a lot of headphones, and that's what I base my decision on, I'll try to find a local store that carries them, and try them out.

While I personally like the smooth warm sounds of ATH (or snh/beyerD/klipsch..etc), after viewing some reviews of the M50s, they are a bit big, and uncomfortable.

The Snh Momentums are a bit out of my price range.

I will continue my searching.

Some headphones that have popped out are: Klipsch One, Snh hd25, denon hp700

HD25 MK2, These are the headphones I use for DJin, and they've lasted me so well since 08. They still look like new. If u prefer a clean undressed up sound with good mid-range I'd definitely recommend these for day to day use aswell, Light and can wear them for hours with only the sound of music to remind u you'be even got headphones on.
