Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

Are you Xeon racist?

I wont recommend a 4690k for rendering , thats madness.

This is the correct answer OP.

Xeons have hyperthreading like i7s, giving them 8 threads for workloads (i.e. rendering).  Those 8 threads will perform better than an AMD 6-8 core CPU.

This is what id'e personally do, only if whatever editing software you're using is Cuda Accelerated.

Otherwise just get a Xeon E3-1231 and like a 270 or something.

Haha no not at all, I just assumed a 4690k would do the job better for everything he's asking.

Its not like he's going to be editing videos 24/7 and the i5 would overclock

Would the xeon be better? Not saying what you said was wrong, I'm just honestly not for sure myself now xD

The xeon has HT so for rendering it will perform MUCH better than a 4690k.

Those kinda of programs WILL use the extra threads and will produce a very solid performance on a xeon.

I will be playing games like minecraft/gmod and edting videos and streaming minecraft and photoshop :P

You need a z97 mobo if you are going to OC.

Dont think i will over clock as im new to PC building and don want to take the risks but im in ireland and its really cold here so i might OC like 0.1Ghz xD

Of course, I was thinking more towards the gaming aspect and a 4690k would render slower than a HT-enabled Xeon but would still do the job just fine

Go with the first build @zappian recommended then, he knows what he's talking about  :)

Sorry for arguing chap  :P

Then I would stay with thatsuggestion with the xeon and the 290x. You wont have any problems with gaming since the single core performance of the xeon is good enough and it has hyper threading. If you would like , you could change the 290x for a 280x ad have a ssd and still keep within your 800$ budget. The suggestion is the one by zappian(just below):
