For the most part i'll be gaming but i do use my pc for 3d modeling (Sketchup) and video editing (Lightworks). Looking for something the fits all rather than getting two cards as i cant really justify getting a Quadro or Firepro on top of a gaming card.

If anyone knows of a better 3d model program than Sketchup thats is free please let me know.

We need a budget. For all we know, you could have enough for a 980, but not Firepro or Quadro.

I $550 on the high side for the time being. I can go higher later down the road.

I guess if you are doing both, you could theoretically get a titan or one of its variants but, I wouldn't personally.

Won't touch a Titan solely on the fact that a 970 can handle the same work load at 40% of the cost on the high side. I dont have any use for double floating point precision or 6gb frame buffer though its nice to have.

If your budget is 550 I would probably get a 980 or maybe spend some more and get dual 970's

I know Lightworks suggests Nvidia but I'm not sure if it work with CUDA acceleration. Can you use CUDA accel. in SLI?

Then you've kinda answered your own question :)
