I'm looking at getting a pair of these headphones and just had a few questions.  First off, would these work well with onboard sound?  I'm pretty sure it would require a DAC/AMP, but just needing to make sure.  Currently I'm using a Gigabyte SOC Force so wasn't sure if the amp on that would be enough to push the headphones.  Next is about a microphone, I keep seeing people recommend the modmic 4.0 and was wondering how the quality of it is.  I'd be coming from a pair of Sennheiser pc360s so was wondering if the quality is comparable.  Also if anyone here has the headphones, what are your thoughts on the headphones?  I'm mainly looking for something for gaming, but would also use it to watch movies.  Finally, what would be a good DAC/AMP for these (preferrably under $200).  Thanks for the help.

Mine work perfectly fine with my onboard.

See if you can get them used BTW, they go for like $265-300 used, and I think around $450 new?

Great headphones, no complaints!  Ran off my motherboard fine, even my cell phone was loud enough (no louder than enough though!)  Shouldn't need much of an amp to make them sing.  Fiio E10K, SMSL SD793-II (IF you have optical on your motherboard!), Schiit Magni 2, Monoprice Desktop Amp, maybe even the SYBA DAC.

I'm selling my K712 with an amp on ebay, if you are interested.

System: i5 6600K@3.6 GHz, Gigabyte Z170XP SLI, 2x8 Corsair DDR 3000, Corsair Hydro H60i cooler, Rosewill CAPSTONE 750w Gold PSU, 1x 512GB SSD, 1x 2TB 7200RPM, Windows 10 Pro x64
Display: XFX R9 390 DD, triple 1920x1200 24" HP monitors (5760x1200 @ 60Hz)   Sound: Audio-gd NFB-11 -> AKG K7XX or 2.1 speaker system
