Im not sure if this is a good thing or not(explain if it's not a good idea to run minimum lol)... Im running an i7 950, underclocked it to 1.2GHz at 0.85000vCore which is the minimum speed and voltage allowed. I pull a minimum of 4.48w and max of 11.03w. Im using stock cooler and at idle with these settings, it managed 48*Celsius idle and 58*Celsius Max... With 3.16GHz @ 1.10000vCore, it would overheat and at idle it would be 59*Celsius lol...

Just leave it stock, to downclock itself to that value, but still have full-power under load. And please, get a better cooler.

If it's overheating at stock, you either did not mount your heat sink correctly or you have a broken chip. Reseat the heat sink or get an RMA.

actually i7 9xx chips are known to overheat with the stock cooler

You're trying to run it slower than stock because it's overheating? The simplest thing to do would just be to get a decent CPU cooler.. Otherwise, reseat your current one with new thermal paste and make sure it's clean of dust.. It also never hurts to make sure that your fans are getting enough airflow through the cooler.

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

depends on the warranty period

Its been around 4 years since that was released so that should be over.

I cant RMA it, i bought it almost 3 years ago... I feel a lot of heat on the stock heatsink and what im noticing is that it's not cooling down good enough. I set my CPU to 2GHz with 1.0000vCore lol... Im getting like 78*C highest and awhile gaming, it's around 65*C and also since it's not bottle necking my GPU, im just leaving it there... 1.2GHz bottleneck a GTs 450 LMAO.. after a year or two, i'll get a beast CPU Cooler lol... At first i was planning to get the H100i for $90 but then changed my mine and wanted the 212 Evo but I didn't need it right now since my 950 is still fast to do the stuff I do lol.. im currently happy with the 2GHz

I would reccomend remounting your stock heatsink, if this does not do the trick you may either need a new cooler or an RMA from Intel Customer service team, who's email is click.support@Intel.com. To find out if your processor is still under warranty you can visit the following link, if you are unable to find the required information please see the video below, this may give you additional information into your current problem. This will allow you to see if you processor  is available for an RMA. If you cannot obtain an RMA I suggest you buy a new cooler as you can pick up a fairly decent air cooler for around £25.
