So I'm just interested in why SSDs vary in price for (to me) no apperent reason. Like these for example

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OBRE5UE/ref=twister_B00PRDMHLU?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L2C46GO?tag=pcpapi-20&pldnSite=1

The cheaper one is bigger, has faster read and write rates ant is CHEAPER

And then what about those intel drives which are like $300 for 400 gb. WHY

Also can anyone reccomend a cheap but good 500-512gb SSD for my first build? Thanks

intel SSDs are more expensive because they use higher quality components as well as MLC nand, not TLC

What is Mlc NAND and tlc

its two different types of nand...

one is multi-level and the other is toggle nand

if you want to know more there are thousands of sites explaining it on google

You can't judge their performance based on official specs. You have to look at reviews. And I do believe the Samsung 850 Evo will be faster than the Adata SP610.

TLC is not Toggle-mode NAND. TLC stands for triple-level cell, which means each memory cell stores 3 bits of information. MLC = multi-level cell stores 2 bits per cell, SLC = single-level cell stores 1 bit per cell. Cramming more bits into each cell means you can get more storage space per dollar, but performance goes down a little and write endurance goes down quite a lot.
