The Titan X is not made for gaming, get 980s instead.

Also, you may be able to get 60FPS at 5K if you turn some settings down in more demanding games. (I'm talking like dropping some of em down to medium or lower)

I'm just wondering. If i can afford dell UP2715K and two GTX Titan X, can i play AAA games on 5K with ultra settingand still get 60 FPS?

No. Titan X isn't a big improvement over 980 for gaming, and even three 980s struggle at 4K Ultra, never mind 5K.

If you can afford that much for components, put it towards your power bill instead and get three 8GB 290X for high-res gaming.

So 8GB 290 will perform better than titan x?

Don't even consider the Titan X. It's barely a gaming performance increase over the 980 and will cost a crapton more. It's just not practical, nor meant, for gaming. Two or three 8GB 290X would be a much better choice for high-res gaming.

Yes. The Titan is for workstations. That's like asking if a dual socket server board would be practical for gaming. xD

Hhmmm, i'm getting confused. As far as i know GTX 980 is better than 290 right? And the problem about resoution is the VRAM right? I don't know, i knew it from watching linus's videos on youtube.

So if we have a good GPU and tons of VRAM we can play higher resolution right?

Im so sorry if i'm wrong. I'm not a PC expert anyway.

Just curious

980 is better then 290X in terms of GPU power, as the 290X has the same GPU power as the 970. However the thing with the 980 is that it's only available in 4GB. Since VRAM does not combine in SLI, having more then two cards to run high-resolutions causes the cards to fill up their 4GB frame buffer and performance suffers. This was shown in Linus's recent video about the Dell 4K, where today's AAA titles are already brushing against using 4GB of VRAM at 5K even without AA. Future AAA titles will only make this worse.

Although you'll have less raw GPU power with three 290X compared to three 980, you'll still have more raw GPU power then two 980, and you won't be limited by VRAM when running the 8GB models. This is why Linus went with three 8GB 290X to run his triple ultrawide 1440p (pretty much same as 5K) setup.

That means the titan x won't have any issue for playing at 5k right?

Hhmmm.. Which one will perform better on high res? Two GTX 980 or two GTX titan? I had a good offering for titan a couple days ago.

the original titan was bested by the 290x and 780ti, honestly for high res gaming you'd be better served by the 290x 8gb model

Two Titan X will only be okay for 4K. Two 980 give about 40-ish FPS, Titan X will give about 45-ish. Again it's not a card meant for gaming and two Titan X is a HUGE waste of money for 5K gaming compared to three 8GB 290X.

If your hell bent in a titan x(which it seems you are) you need to have the "shut up and take my money attitude" go all out buy 2 or 3. Still its very cost effective to get the (3) 290x. But I dont think the tech is there to take advantage of 5k gaming over 4k. Honestly. But if you wanna do it, go for it.

Ahahaha... Like i said, i'm just wondering.i know that AMD card performs like God when it comes to price per performance, but still i need nvidia cards for my works. AMD really can't do much for me. I was an AMD user for a long time and i loved them :D

I had a good offer for old titans a week ago ($850 for two Evga Titan SC), and thank u for all of u guys i didn't take it :D

I decided to wait for "nvidia response" to the upcoming R9 300 series.

Will 8GB GTX 980 come out? Or it's just a dream?

There won't really be an "Nvidia response" to the upcoming R9 300 series. The R9 300 series is supposed to be AMD's response to the GTX 900 series. Also 8GB 980 is currently just a rumor, no confirmation on it yet.

There won't be an 8 GB 980.  That would require them to expand the memory bus or sacrifice significant speed.  (Not that you need 8 GB for anything right now anyway.)

Won't be anything in between Titan X and 980 imo.

hhmmm.. to be honest, i don't wanna repeat my mistake while i bought my 780. two months after i bought it, they launced 780 Ti. hahhahaha... as far as i know that 780 Ti is their response for R9 290 that launched after 780.

i just don't wanna do that mistake again. lol
