Will upgrading to a Q6600 from a E2200 help in gaming?

I currently have a E2200 and i want to do a cheap upgrade to a Q6600.

The PC has:

  • Intel E2200
  • 4 Gb of ram
  • No graphics card or sound card

The main reason I was getting this cpu was that it would stutter when trying to view a 1080p youtube video. I could only watch 720p and sometimes 720p 60 fps videos. So would this cpu help with that or no? Also will it help in gaming (minecraft and racing games).

Thanks

Most likely yes, but you'll want a GPU as well. Something like a 750ti/260x/270 would probably be a good match.

Do you think there will be a jump in gaming by using integrated graphics of the q6600 than the e2200 without a gpu?

there are other quad cores besides the one used in scrapyard wars. Updated ones runs on 1333 fsb instead of 1066 fsb.

without a proper gpu you wont see much improvement in gaming.

quad core is a decent upgrade otherwise.

Core i7-2600k @ 4.65Ghz - Asus Maximus IV Gene Z - 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance LP Cerilian Blue - Samsung EVO 840 250GB - Seagate Barracuda 7200 1TB - 2x EVGA Geforce GTX 760 SC - Corsair AX850, custom sleaved and length - Silverstone Sugo heavily modified - Full loop with EK blocks and 360 rad, frozenq res.

If you only do light gaming then yeah the Q6600 is fine... but you will want a dedicated GPU to go with it. If you're really looking for something cheap then the GTX 650 / GT 740 or R7 240 and R7 250 are good (make sure you get 1GB GDDR5 card, not 2-4GB DDR3 card).

Intel i5-4690K @ 3.8GHz || Gigabyte Z97X-SLI || 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X 1600MHz || Asus GTX 760 2GB @ 1150 / 6400 || 128GB A-Data SX900 + 1TB Toshiba 7200RPM || Corsair RM650 || Fractal 3500W

The slight bump in speeds and double the cores will technically at least double your performance.

Getting a dedicated GPU will definately fix your stuttering problem when watching videos.
