I don't know what you are talking about, but that is bad for your phone's battery. :|

As is charging your phone from the wall (120/240 volts) versus from a normal USB port on your computer.

The slower it charges, the better it is for the long term life of your battery.

Just a warning.

@Vitalius. I charge my phone all the time using USB ports that provide 3x the power and my battery isn't degrading any faster than normal. What's your source for your statements? Besides, don't you think someone like Apple would say "Our wall adapter will degrade your battery's performance in the long run."

Charging with faster chargers isn't the best way to do it.

Unrelated to that link, heat is bad for batteries. If they charge faster than normal, they tend to get hot. From my experience anyway.

I can't find the place where I read that quicker charging can diminish battery life. *facepalm*

Quote from the link: "use the charger that your device came with." This would include the wall adapter that came with say a smartphone.

Normal wall adapter for an

iPhone: 1Amp

Samsung S4: 2Amps

IPad: 2Amps

USB-port: 0,5Amps

Charging time isn't in a linear correlation to amperage thus you have to make some kind of compromise what to use.

Apple actually said one time that you shouldn't ALWAYS use the iPad wall adapter for an iPhone. (I hope you get the always)

These high powered USB ports are being compared to normal ones, thus meaning that they are compared to 0,5Amps. Therefore they should be around 1,5 to 2 Amps which is actually required to charge most tablets (they don't "really" charge at 0,5 - at least an iPad doesn't).

@ OP afaik your motherboard also has to support this. I don't know if there is a molex+USB to high-powered USB workaround but that could actually damage other devices such as USB sticks which is why I doubt their existence.
