Processor help?

Go to solution Solved by Senzelian,

Hi, I currently have 2 computers, a 17" iMac that I have had for years and an Acer Aspire 5560G gaming laptop with Dual Graphics which I use daily.

What I am wondering is, the processor in my Acer Aspire is an AMD A6-3420M APU with Radeon HD Graphics which runs at 1.50GHz and the iMac processor is an Intel COre 2 Duo which runs at 2.16GHz. Will I be able to switch the processor from my iMac to my laptop to increase its power slightly?

Probably not. You would have to change the whole motherboard and the CPUs are most likely already build into them. It's not like on a desktop pc where you can just take the CPU out of the socket.

Of course you can't the Mac has an Intel CPU and the Laptop has an AMD CPU, they are in no way compatible with the board in the other system.
