Hi

About a year ago I bough a pre-built PC as I did not know much about computers and did not trust myself enough to build my own system. I have a basic knowledge of most things now but would still like a bit of help with upgrading my system and what upgrades to get. I am currently running an AMD 7770HD, and an AMD FX 4300 (3.8GHz) and I am looking to upgrade. As I upgrade I am looking to avoid upgrading my GPU and introducing CPU bottlenecks and vice versa. I am looking to get a GTX 960 and an AMD FX8350 and was wondering if these were a good match to avoid bottlenecks? Any help is appreciated.

Cheers in advance.

Welcome to the Forum.

I'll tell you straight off the bat that upgrading to an 8350 simply isn't worth it for gaming, because of single core performance. Pretty much all AMD CPUs need a great overclock to be able to match the single core performance of most core i3s, meaning that they generally aren't better than cheap Intel processors for gaming.

Also, the GTX 960 isn't a great deal. I'd try to go with an i3/Pentium G3258/i5 (plus cheap intel motherboard) and the best used AMD card I could buy with the money I had left.

Sig under construction.
