Last night my computer was working perfectly fine, I shut it down normally as I always do, then I went to bed.

This morning I woke up and turned it back on. Fans spinned up, single beep, ASUS M5A88-M splash screen came on, all seemed normal, but then it just freezes. Mashing DEL or any of the boot options doesn't do anything.  Tried clearing CMOS, unplugging everything except keyboard and display, and different RAM, but it still hangs at the splash screen in the same way every time. Left it for 10 minutes now and still hasn't gotten past so definitely stuck on POST process.

Any ideas?

The usual problems when this happens are:

 -> Faulty HDD/SSD or SATA cable

 -> Faulty RAM

 -> Motherboard is broken.

See if you can swamp parts. If you remove your HDD/SSD, does the system "work" now (should ask you that it can't find a bootable device, which better than being stuck)
