so my mobo only has two memory slots and a max of 16gb of ram and I though what if I just used 1x8 ram instead of 2x4 that way I could upgrade to 16gb later (which wouldn't be anytime soon). but I know dual channel ram is faster would I be losing a lot of performance or no (for gaming). -thanks

not really. Unless you're using an APU then you shouldnt notice any significant changes in performance.
