I'm not quite sure if this is the right place for my question if not, could a moderator please move it?

Anyways on Windows I know that 'c gives me "ç" and like 'e gives me "é'' so on and so fourth. (I find US Int'l easier than trying to remember the azerty layout for the French layout) anyways I plan on using Linux as the primary OS on my laptop until I buy a larger (being 1TB) ssd... So like are the combinations the same in Fedora or any Linux distro for that matter, and if so awesome... Or if not, then could someone point me somewhere to find how to do those either the alt code method or simple sort of way Windows has it done.

With linux you can set your keyboard layout just like in windows.

It changes from distro to distro or perhaps more so desktop enviroment.
