fixing dead pixels

About a month ago there was a small accident at my desk involving a small plastic container of peppermint bath soap exploding and coating my monitor. I cleaned everything off relatively quickly but recently I noticed a small cluster of dead pixels in the bottom left of my monitor, that steadily grew larger and larger, and is still growing now. I've already listed the monitor on craigslist with intent to buy a new one, but I was wondering if it would be possible to fix it?

The only real way is to send it back to the OEM or just order a new screen (not monitor) from the OEM.

Not really. There isn't a cheap and easy fix. Same happened to a friends laptop, the worst part is it spread over a period of 1 year, we had to replace the screen.

Looks a lot like my VK248 ASUS 24" monitor. I'll be sure to leave all explosive peppermints distant from my monitor

 

Not sure that it is possible to fix, I'd try the OEM route like @Oberon.Smite suggested. Or see if ASUS (I'm assuming it is ASUS based on the look in the first picture) will RMA it, they've always been good to me about that sort of thing.
