The 280x is more powerful than the 285. If your going for gaming, either will suit you fine, but if your on a budget, the 285 is still a capable card.

285 was MADE to replace 280 and he didnt mentioned it

285 adds two features to the 280, bridgeless CrossFire and FreeSync (as mentioned above). If those are not important to OP then again 280 is still a better choice for it's 3GB of VRAM.

Nope. In most games at 1080p medium-high the 285 will be slightly ahead, however at higher settings and/or resolution, especially with AA, the 280 will actually pull ahead as the 285 hits it's 2GB VRAM cap. Not to mention the 280 is also cheaper.
