Graphics card for media / server computer

Go to solution Solved by Aniallation,

not too sure, was thinking about this one

Asus GeForce GT 610 Silent Nvidia Graphics Card (2GB DDR3, PCI Express 2.0, HDMI, DVI-I, VGA, Low Profile Design, 0dB Silent Cooling)

GT 610 will be perfect for your usage but don't get the 2GB version, save your money and get the 1GB. If R9 270X can live fine with 2GB then GT 610 can live fine with one.

OK, so ive not too long ago build a new gaming PC and now im deciding what to do with my old rig. its specs are

Intel I5 760 @ 4GHZ (probably be dropping that down tho)

Asus P7P55D-E Mobo

8 GB (2 X 4) 1600MHZ Ram

500GB WD Blue HDD, (for media or server ill obvuously be swapping this out for a bigger drive)

600W OCZ PSU

It used to have a GTX 660 TI card in it but i gave it to my brother inlaw for his birthday for his rig running on intergrated........ needless to say hes alot happier now!

so if i have it as a media computer i would also be game streaming to it.

i was thinking somthing like a GT 610 or somthing, would this be ok?

Thanks in advance!

A GT 610 would be Great, A GT 210 would cut it. But a GT 610 should have about 40% higher performance if im not mistaken.

My Gaming PC

GT610 should be fine but GT640 will be a nice GPU to get also for streaming

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Anything cheap really from AMD or Nvidia.

AMD = 5450/6450

Nvidia = GT 610/710

lol no. The price difference is bad for their higher end GT series.

Watch Linuses video on low end GPUs..

GT 610 will do fine. As long as it has a hardware H.264 decoder you're good
