http://pcpartpicker.com/p/bBXhxr Do I Need Thermal Compound,Wireless WiFi adapter,Optical Drive or will it run without it?

i'm gonna play games like BF4 on it my budget is less then $700

No, the cpu cooler comes with thermal compound.

No, one would only need a WiFi adapter if it was needed to connect to the internet. The motherboard has a wired port.

No, optical drives are optional. Windows can be installed from a thumb drive.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

  • Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard has an onboard USB 3.0 header, but the Cooler Master HAF 912 ATX Mid Tower Case does not have front panel USB 3.0 ports.

Some AMD 970 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Vishera CPUs // Will it still work ?

best pc build for your price can easily play bf 4 at ultra

and i think 1tb is not enough so i was able to cramp a hybrid 2tb seagate memory

instead of a amd cpu i put a intel i5 which is much better for gaming

and u are still left with 33$ so i would recommend buying battlefield 4 with it

WiFi depends entirely on your home setup. Ideally, you'd use a wired connection. You almost never use an optical drive, and you can even install Windows from a flash drive. Thermal compound is unnecessary, as coolers come with their own.

As for the build itself, I think you can do much better. I'm assuming you need wireless otherwise you wouldn't have put a card into the build, If that's the case, and that's your budget, then this is what I would do:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

The FX-6300 has poor single-threaded performance and requires an aftermarket cooler to really work well, while the locked i5 performs better even factoring in the FX-6300's overclocking potential, yet the i5 can get by with the stock cooler and a cheaper motherboard, meaning that you're not really paying more for the platform yet it performs better. Then you can just move some of the prices around and get an R9 280x instead of the R9 280. I really like the BitFenix Neos for the price right now as it has cable management options (although admittedly space is cramped for the cables on the other side of the panel), and removable dust filters. The only downside is that it only comes with 1 120mm fan, but since it's so cheap we can just get another 120mm fan as an intake for less than what a different case would cost alone. Overall, I really like the BitFenix Neos.

Heads up: this build pairs an original haswell motherboard (80 series like h81, z87, b85 etc) with a haswell refresh CPU. 80 series motherboards require a bios update prior to working with a haswell refresh CPU, and while some will already have had it done before you get it, if it hasn't been done yet then you're stuck in a catch-22 because you need a working CPU to update the bios, but you need the bios update to make your CPU work.

If the bios update isn't already done by the time he gets it, he will need an original haswell CPU to do the bios update. That's not something people buying a brand new i5-4460 usually have. This is a common problem and one I always avoid in any build, as it means he may end up with a heat of parts that simply wont work together without him sending it off to someone with the required hardware to do the update.
