Hi all,

I'm researching all kinds of stuff for when I build my PC. Haven't had one for quite a few years. Last windows version I had was milenium edition. Yikes!!

My question is: Will the windows firewall and router firewall be the cause of any conflicts if ran at the same time? I will not disable my router firewall. Too many devices hooked to or wifi'd to router.

They "shouldn't", but could you be more specific about what conflicts you are concerned about? Are you going to leave both the router and Winows Firewalls on the default settings? Are you going to be doing any VPN or RDP to/from your PC?

I will be connected by Ethernet to the modem/router. I've had no experience with windows firewalls, hence the reference to win me, so I'm not sure if the two firewalls will conflict with each other in any way.

It doesn't sound like you'll be doing anything out of the ordinary, so I think you'll be fine. As long as the router is set to it's default setting, you shouldn't need to do much else.

OK that's good to know. One more question. My firewall is set to low on my router, but I have stealth mode turned on. I have tested it at on qrc.com and I get no failed tests in any category. Should I just leave my firewall on low or bump it up to medium?

Well, you could turn it back to medium and then if you run into any access isues, you could always turn it down again. More security is always better to start off with.

True. At the moment though I think I would tick my 13 yo son off if I did it right now. He's on the Xbox. Lol
